Archiving Inactive Assets
If you have assets that have not checked in for more than 90 days and you’d like to archive them, you can do so by following the process below.
Archiving assets helps keep your Assets view clean and focused, without impacting any data already collected.
When to Archive Assets
We recommend archiving assets that:
- Have not checked in for over 90 days
- Are no longer active or expected to return
- Are cluttering your Assets view
How to Archive Assets
Option 1: Archive Assets Using the “Last Seen Over 90 Days” Filter
- Log in to the Stairwell application.
- Navigate to the Assets tab.
- Enable the filter Last seen: Over 90 days.
- Review the filtered list of assets.
- In the bottom-right corner of the page, a pop-up will appear prompting you to Download CSV.
- Download the CSV file.
- Email the CSV to [email protected] and request that the listed assets be archived.
Option 2: Archive Specific Assets by Identifier
- If you only want to archive specific assets:
- Go to the Assets tab.
- Locate the asset(s) you want to archive.
- Copy the Asset Identifier shown in the asset list.
- Email the identifier(s) to [email protected] with a request to archive those assets.
What Happens When an Asset Is Archived
- Archived assets are hidden from the Assets tab
- No data is deleted
- All files previously collected from the asset are:
- Retained in the platform
- Fully searchable
- Available for hunting and detection via YARA rules
- Archiving only affects the visibility of the asset—it does not impact historical data or detection capabilities.
