Reset SSO Settings
Change which identity provider Stairwell trusts. Reset the existing connection first, then configure the new one, which is the usual move after a trial.
Changing your identity provider means resetting the existing connection before configuring the new one. It is not an edit.
This is the normal path after a trial. Trials are often set up on the Stairwell identity provider, and moving to your own is a reset rather than a first-time configuration. Nothing has gone wrong if that is where you are.
Reset and reconfigure
- Go to app.stairwell.com and sign in.
- Select the gear icon at the bottom left.
- Select SSO, then Manage SSO Settings.
- Under Connections, select the ellipsis ..., then Reset connection.
- Type
Resetand confirm. - Choose your identity provider.
- Work through the configuration steps: typically the ACS URL, the SP Entity ID, attribute mappings, and the IdP metadata URL.
- Select Continue to sign-in.
Steps 6 through 8 are the same as first-time setup. See Configure SSO.
Before you reset
There is a window between step 5 and step 8 where no identity provider is configured. Have the new provider's values ready before you start, rather than resetting and then going to find them. Prepare the IdP side first, using the guide in Supported Identity Providers, so the reset and the reconfiguration happen in one sitting.
If you get stuck partway, contact [email protected] rather than retrying. This is the one configuration in Stairwell that can lock people out.
What should I read next?
- Configure SSO, for the configuration half.
- Supported Identity Providers, for the values your provider needs.
- SSO and Authentication, for how sign-in relates to roles and tokens.
