Archive Inactive Assets
Keep your Assets view clean by archiving endpoints that have stopped reporting. Archiving hides assets from the default Assets tab view — no data is deleted. All previously collected files remain fully searchable and available for detections and YARA rule matching.
When to Archive
Consider archiving an asset if it:
- Is no longer checking in the web app
- Is decommissioned, reimaged, or no longer expected to return
- Is cluttering your Assets view
Method 1: Archive Directly in the UI (Admin Only)
Note: This option is available to administrators only.
- Navigate to the Assets tab in Stairwell.
- Locate the asset(s) you want to archive. Use the Last seen filter to surface inactive assets quickly.
- Select the asset(s), then right-click it.
- Choose Archive Assets from the context menu.
The asset will no longer appear in the default Assets view.
What Happens After Archiving
- Archived assets are removed from the Assets tab view
- No data is deleted — all collected files, detections, and history are preserved
- Assets remain searchable and continue to trigger YARA rule matches on historical data
